Today (8 March) is International Women’s Day – a day to celebrate women and discuss the considerable challenges that women still face globally.  As ever, the event will quite rightly generate considerable media coverage. Yet there is one group of women whose issues will almost certainly not come under the media spotlight – older women. This is despite the fact that old age and gender intersect to create a perfect storm that leaves older women more vulnerable to abuse than perhaps any other segment of society.
