Hi – is this project still running and, if so, how would we go about letting people know about it? When we have domestic abuse cases (in Cambridgeshire) involving older people, they often don’t want involvement from police or other professionals, including specialist abuse services, but they might be open to having a support buddy. Do you have volunteers in Cambridgeshire area that we can link local domestic abuse services with?

Thank you for your query. We can confirm that the Peer Support Volunteer Programme has now become the Elder Abuse Recovery Service (EARS). It will be launching in Cambridgeshire in the future, but we do not have a timescale available for when this will be just yet.

At this stage, we do not have any volunteers within Cambridgeshire who would be able to provide support to people who have experienced elder abuse but if you are able to provide us with contact details, we will ensure that our Peer Development Officer will keep you informed once we have further developments on EARS in Cambridgeshire.
