My mil is constantly falling in her flat, resulting in a hospital stay and reablement for six weeks in care home, social services say she does not meet the criteria for a care home and they advise sheltered housing, my immediate problem is they have said it is the families responsibility to take her home, she has been house bound ect for over 3yrs because she can no longer climb or descend the 20 step stairwell in and out of her flat, she is carried out by an evac chair when taken to hospital by 2 people. She has been receiving the full attendance allowance for the last 10yrs or so.
Does sending her back to the flat in isolation amour to abuse?? This is just a brief summary, she is of sound mind and does not want to go back to being isolated again

From the information you have provided, it is difficult to make judgement on whether or not this amounts to abuse. If your mother’s current accommodation is provided by social services and is not appropriate to your mother’s health needs, it may be appropriate to contact Adult Safeguarding to protect her wellbeing. If social services have recommended sheltered housing they may already be in the process of finding new accommodation, and patience may be required. Greater detail might be required in order to provide further advice and information. You can call our helpline (0808 808 8141) during office hours if you would like to discuss this further.
