Good evening everyone, I am currently writing a dissertation on the differences between the classification of elder abuse and older people experiencing domestic abuse. I am interested in finding practitioners who have experience of intervening within this area. I am particularly interested in the legal classification and service intervention available to older people within the UK. Additionally, my research is interested in gaining practitioners experiences of the needs and experiences of older people who use services.

If anyone has any views on this or experiences it would be much appreciated

    Kind regards

    Hi Lynne,

I am very interested in this area. For the last two years i have been involved in a complex elder abuse/domestic abuse case of an elderly lady with Alzheimmers. I am RGN/RHV so i am experienced in Domestic Abuse and Child Protection but i had no experience initially of Elder/Domestic abuse and Adult Protection system inadequacies.
It has been eyeopening to say the least and has involved a lot of challenging of social care to get a response. Complex issues including suspicion indicators for Factitious Illness Induction(Fabrication/Exaggeration/Falsification/deception Adult Maltreatment /Neglect/Abuse)

I would be happy to talk with you if you wanted to hear more. Best Wishes.
