How The Alarm Works – 24/7 Lifeline Alarms
The user wears the alarm button either as a pendant, or on a wristband. Should they fall or feel unwell then they simply need to press the alarm button. This activates the alarm base unit and automatically dials through to our 24/7 alarm response centre. Once connected, one of our trained response operatives will arrange for the appropriate help – either calling an ambulance, or your nominated contacts e.g. family and friends.
The alarm button is waterproof, and is recommended for use in the bath and shower. The pendant’s range is up to 100m (330ft) and covers most people’s homes and gardens. We recommend you test the range of the pendant when you first receive it, and test the equipment at least once a month.
Setting it up yourself is very easy. The alarm base unit is plugged into a power socket, close to the main telephone socket. You then simply unplug your telephone from the telephone socket and plug it into the back of the alarm, then plug the alarm directly into your telephone socket with the cable provided, that’s it. Make sure you test the device after setting it up.
Freedom Telecare also offer a national installation and demonstration service that can be purchased as part of your order. An engineer will visit within five working days (at a convenient time for you), to set the equipment up for you. They will install the unit and show you how to operate it.
In order to use the alarm service you will need either:
• Two key holders that live within 15-20 minutes
• One key holder within 15-20 minutes and a key safe (see Key Safe’s for more details)
After completing your purchase online, a Freedom Telecare operative will call you to take the details necessary to complete your order. This will include details to allow us to set up your direct debit.
Please note that this is a 12 month agreement for service, and the equipment is provided on a rental basis. All equipment must be returned undamaged and in good working order should you cancel service after 12 months.
